Labradors are strong big dogs, and while very sweet tempered, are also typically naughty puppies if not trained at a young age. We strongly encourage all owners to attend kindergarten puppy class with their pups beginning at a young age, usually 10-14 weeks of age. This way, puppies learn the correct way, right from the beginning, rather than learning bad habits that will have to be re-trained later on. It also means that your puppy will get socialized correctly, at a young age and learn to behave not only at home, without distractions, but also with all the distractions of other bouncing bundles of fur in class, too. These classes could one day save your puppy's life! Imagine what would happen if somehow your puppy got out the front door and saw another dog across the street. If there was a car coming, it could be tragic. Now imagine the same scenario, only this puppy was trained properly. So, when it's owner called it, it ignored the other dog across the street, and avoided getting struck by the car. This is a very real reason you want to begin training right away. The above scenario is not an imaginary one, it has happened to almost every dog owner at some time or another, myself included.
